Using the hoaxlybot

Using the hoaxlybot is rather easy, just go the url and start typing. If you say "Hi" to Nessie, you get some options to start with.

Nessie is the hoaxlybot avatar and here to help you, directly from Loch Ness!

How to check URLs

One of the main features of the hoaxlybot is to check if there is a review about a specified URL. You can do this by telling Nessie "Please check url YOUR-URL".

For example if you found an article that might be misleading which is accessible with the url "https://www.maybe-a-misleading-article.com/1/" (copy it from the browse window), you can check it by telling Nessie "Check url https://www.maybe-a-misleading-article.com/1/".

Nessie will then tell you if there is review about this article in the hoaxly index. Please be patient, the index is currently in development, so there are not so much reviews available so far. But this will change.

Nessie will also tell you how many reviews have been found for your url and if there is one with a negative rating - Nessie is using the term "questionable".

If there is no review found Nessie can tell you how to fact check the article yourself.
